Peter follows scrap exports and prices, service center shipments and inventories of both the US and Canada, producer price indexes, US Industrial production and housing starts.
Peter is a metallurgical engineer as well as a self-trained economist. He is a Chartered Engineer in the UK where he started his career in the steel business. Prior to 2000 his career began in Quality Control and Production Development. He then moved into Sales, then Operations where he ended up as Vice President of the Bar Products business unit of Chaparral Steel. When TXI took over full control of Chaparral they did away with business units. It was then Peter reinvented himself by creating the position of Marketing Director with Chaparral. Peter is now the Marketing Director for the entire Gerdau Ameristeel Corporation.
